What is Exercise Snacking?
"Exercise snacking" is the latest trend in fitness, based on a simple insight:
You don’t need to set aside long hours for a workout. Short bursts of movement throughout the day can be just as effective. Instead of dedicating an hour to exercise, you can incorporate little movements into your daily routine.
These "snacks" typically consist of quick exercises lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
Prolonged sitting can be harmful, but adding in small movements keeps your body active. In fact, research shows that short, frequent bursts of activity positively impact blood sugar, energy levels, and overall health.
Why does this method work?
1- It eliminates the excuse of "I don’t have time."
2- It increases your daily movement.
3- It boosts your energy and mood.
What kinds of "snacks" can you do?
Anything that gets your heart rate up works! Think climbing stairs, squats, or a brisk walk.
